
Ruthie Wellen is an associate lawyer at Kastner Ko LLP, practising in the areas of union-side labour law, employment law, human rights, and civil litigation. She advises and represents trade unions and employees in a wide range of workplace disputes, including grievance arbitrations, unfair labour practice complaints, certification applications, human rights claims, and wrongful and constructive dismissals.
Ruthie is also dedicated to using the law as a tool for broader social change. In addition to her core labour and employment practice, she maintains a public interest practice, representing organizations and individuals in test cases and constitutional litigation before Ontario courts and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ruthie holds a J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School (2019) and an Honours B.A. in Sociology from McGill University (2015). Before joining Kastner Ko in 2020, she articled and summered with the Ontario Ministry of Labour, and completed clinic placements in the Workers’ Rights Division at Parkdale Community Legal Services and the Osgoode Hall Innocence Project.
