A member of the Ontario Labour-Management Arbitrators’ Association, Sheilagh Turkington mediates and arbitrates disputes between labour parties in the public and private sectors. She is also a mediator for civil employment-related disputes. Prior to her role as arbitrator/mediator, Sheilagh practised law for over 25 years with a prominent labour and public law firm. She regularly litigated labour arbitration, civil wrongful dismissal and employment, human rights, disability insurance, and professional regulation disputes. She earned Best Lawyers in Canada recognition starting in 2010. She authored the text Education Labour and Employment Law in Ontario for 16 years, and she has been an active trainer of unions, employers, and lawyers on a range of labour, employment, and human rights issues. Sheilagh completed undergraduate and graduate degrees before attending the University of Toronto Law School where she earned an LL.B.
