Sonya Sabet-Rasekh is a Staff Representative and lawyer with the B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) in the Advocacy Department. Prior to working with the BCGEU, Sonya practised in a private law firm representing unions and practised in the areas of labour law, employment law, human rights, and civil litigation. She currently instructs Canadian Labour Law as an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University’s Labour Studies Program and is the President of the BC Union Workers’ Union.

Sonya holds a law degree from the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in January 2012. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
