Steve Bradshaw is the president/CEO of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 569 in Edmonton, representing over 3,000 workers in the transit industry from St. Albert to Red Deer. He has been an activist, an organizer, and a negotiator in various positions and organizations for over 40 years. Steve joined Edmonton Transit in 1991, serving in various roles with the union since 1993, leading to this, his third term as president. Of the six bargaining units represented by ATU, three are public sector and three are private, providing a unique perspective of the differences.
Steve also serves as a director of the Corporate Board of the Local Authorities Pension Plan, guiding the administration of the pensions of more than a quarter million active members in Alberta. He’s an alternate on the executive board of the Alberta Federation of Labour. He served as the director of the Canadian Council of the Union and an executive member of the Northwest Conference of the Union.
