Tia Hazra is currently a Labour Relations Team Lead in the National Capital Region with the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSCP). She joined PIPSC in 2018, where she discovered her passion for labour law. Prior to this role, she was a lawyer in private practice and then a manager at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic. Tia has appeared before the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board on numerous cases for the purposes of mediation and arbitration. She has also represented several members at private arbitration including most recently the successful decision in Canadian Museum of History v Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, 2022 CanLII 37248 (CA LA). She was asked to speak before a Senate committee to make recommendations for changes in workplace harassment policies and participated in pilot projects to support this initiative. Tia holds a B.Soc.Sc. and LL.L. from the University of Ottawa as well as a LL.B. from Dalhousie University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019.
