Tia Hazra is currently a Labour Relations Team Lead in the National Capital Region with the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC), the second largest federal public service union in the country. She joined PIPSC in 2018 and quickly discovered her passion for labour law. Prior to this role, she was a lawyer in private practice and then a manager at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic as well as part-time professor. Tia regularly represents members in all areas of labour relations including human rights, workplace investigations, interpretation and application of collective agreements, legislation, policies, and directives. She often appears before the Federal Public Service Labour Relations and Employment Board for the purposes of mediation and arbitration. She also represents members at private arbitration and recently obtained the successful decision in Canadian Museum of History v Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada, 2022 CanLII 37248 (CA LA).

Tia holds a B.Soc.Sc. and LL.L. from the University of Ottawa, as well as a LL.B. from Dalhousie University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009.
