Trent Snikkers is a National Representative for the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) in Fredericton, New Brunswick. During his nine years with CUPE, he has worked in four provinces with over 100 CUPE locals. He has co-facilitated multiple training sessions covering negotiations and grievance handling for new national representatives and has developed an advanced negotiation course for national representatives.

Trent is a member of CUPE’s artificial intelligence (AI) working group which aims to address all aspects of the impact of AI and digitization on the workplace. As the coordinator for the largest CUPE bargaining council in New Brunswick, he has helped to establish a partnership between academic research and applied union negotiations focusing on the digitization of the workplace in the health sector.

Trent holds a B.A. in Human Geography from the University of British Columbia (UBC), a Diploma in Urban Land Economics from the Sauder School of Business at UBC, and a Certificate in Pension Law from Osgoode Law School at York University. He is currently completing an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a dual focus on Work, Organization, and Leadership & Education.
