With over 15 years as a labour relations officer with United Nurses of Alberta (UNA) and a total of 25 years in human resources, Tricia Gibbs is a strategic labour relations executive, supporting people and organizations collaboratively in a team focused manner. Her passion for her work allows her to directly support and influence organizational planning, development, implementation, and administration of all labour relations and human resources activities. As a highly esteemed labour relations professional, Tricia represents the union and its members across Alberta as lead negotiator at several of the UNA bargaining tables, including bargaining several collective agreements with Indigenous Health Authorities. She appears before arbitrators, professional licensing bodies, and with employers as it relates to investigations, grievances, arbitrations, licensing body disciplinary hearings, and resolution agreements.
Tricia is a fierce advocate for the interests of members within unions and with professional association’s, utilizing her talents as a negotiator, mediator, listener, and facilitator to drive results that provide the best outcomes in difficult and challenging situations. Tricia is highly skilled in advocating for worker’s coverage with health insurance providers such as Canada Life and Workers’ Compensation Board and with the Alberta Human Rights Commission. She is committed to helping individuals thrive in their work and in their lives, advocating and representing members in all areas of labour relations.
Outside of her work, Tricia spends her time enjoying the busy life of a mother of an active and talented basketball player. She volunteers at his school and various not-for-profit organizations, and enjoys spending time with her son and walks with her dog. Tricia holds degrees in English, Cultural Anthropology, and Labour Relations.
